Post MVD update

First, I would like to thank you all for being here for support and to answer questions! I had my MVD in January of is year. Like many other, I woke from surgery pain free, only to have the pain return. I had noticed that a part of my incision, although healed, was still open. Upon examination, my daughter saw what looked like a small thread still there. I sent a photo to my NS, and he thought it was a migrating suture, and sent me to my PCP to have it removed. ( my NS is in NY, and I live in GA). My PCP couldn’t see it, but my daughter was able to, and removed it. It was just a tiny piece of suture material. No problems, no infection, but 2 weeks later, my incision was seeping a clear fluid. Another call to the NS, another visit to the PCP, and a referral to a local NS, who sent me to the ER. In the ER, the neurosurgeon felt it best to open the incision to be sure there was not infection, or any more debris in the field. The doctor determined it was just a collection of lymph, probably from the bit of suture, and closed it with three stitches. The most interesting thing is since then, my pain has gotten much better! Not sure if this is a coincidence or not, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I just wanted to share this newest development. Would love to hear your thoughts.

So glad to hear that you are feeling less pain! Whenever I read that someone has a set back and then somehow makes it through, it gives hope to us of all.

Please keep us posted on your recovery and best wishes for the future. Marcy

Thanks, Marcy, I will be sure to keep updating.

Wow Christine, I’m so glad to hear you’ve had a good outcome despite everything you’ve gone through. I certainly hope your healing/ recovery remains uneventful and your pain stays gone! ; )
