Has anyone had experience with Ultrasound treatment?

Hi All,

In reasearching treatment alternatives, I came across an add for "The PainShield." It is described as a low frequency, low intensity, ultrasound device that was shown to reduce pain and help nerve recovery. The salesmen for the device said that it was FDA approved. That doesn't mean that it works. It only means that it probably won't hurt you. You need a doctor's prescription for it. You must wear it 6 hours per day. You can sleep with it on. It costs $650 and the only efficacy research on patients with TN that was offered was a 15 patient pilot study, in which 70% of the participants found relief. Has anyone used the device?

If you have a reference to the pilot study report, I'd like to read it in detail. This is the first time I have3 heard Ultrasound proposed as a treatment modality for *any* nerve disorder.

If you go to the nanovibronix website and click on poster presentations you will find one that deals with TN. From there you can download the pilot study info.

PainShield was a forum discussion in November 2010:

The financial chatter about the company, and THEIR self-promotion, speaks louder than the THEIR pilot study of 15 TN patients stated in the June/July 2010 Podiatry Management article.

*NanoVibronix cites a report by Global Industry Analysts Inc., which estimates that the global wound care market will reach $22.8 billion by 2017, one-third of which is addressed by advanced wound care products. The market growth is fueled by an aging population and the rapidly increasing incidence of diabetes worldwide.

*NanoVibronix has obtained US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and EU CE Mark clearance for its first product, PainShield MD, for the treatment of tendonitis, muscle pain, and trigeminal neuralgia. The company has also developed a family of disposable ultrasound devices, the UroShield, to treat catheter-associated infection and injury by preventing biofilm formation and decreasing the friction between the catheter and body tissues. This product also has CE Mark certification.

*****NanoVibronix CEO Dr. Harold Jacob said, "Tegal’s investment and management expertise are critical to accelerating the growth of NanoVibronix.*****

Not including the cost of the unit, here is THEIR "deal" -

*****Replacement: Patches are warranted against all manufacturing defects. After your first month of treatments, additional patches for the PainShield MD machine may be purchased individually or in bundles of 2 or 4 for greater savings! 1 Patch for $39.99 each 2 Patches for $38.99 each ($77.98 total) 4 Patches for $37.99 each ($151.96 total)

*****Order the PainShield, give it a try for 60 days, & if it hasn't dramatically improved your condition, return the unit & we'll give you a 100% refund - no questions asked! (Please note: Due to hygienic reasons, we are unable to accept returns of used treatment patches for refunds).

*****Each reusable pain patch is good for...that equates to approximately 1 week.

Return THEIR unit - you own THEIR patches. PainShield has a lot to do with *****NanoVibronix, and of course, THEIR investors.

Lin, I have not used any such device. bob
